The U16 Team from Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won Silver in the Project competition: Aoife Corbett, Niamh O’Dea, Katie Freeman, Aoife Hurley. U16 topic was about Renewable Energy.

Clare Community Games All Stars 2011 Print

The annual All Star Dance will be held on Friday 21st October in the West County Hotel, Ennis @ 8pm.  All areas should support this great social event for both adults and children. Tickets costing €20 each, same price as last year, can be booked with County Treasurer Rose Meakins 086-8147799 or can be bought at next county meeting on Tues 4th Oct.  All tickets should be ordered and paid for by 14th Oct latest.  Tickets will be required by all attending, including All Star recipients.

The 2011 All Stars are listed below. Congratulations to them all.

Keep Clare Clean Competition 2011 Print

Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games Keep Clare Clean Awareness Project

Promoted in co-operation withClare County Council & Shannon Development

The purpose of this project is to encourage young people (Under 6 through to Under 14) to use their creativity and imagination to highlight the need and importance of keeping our community and county clean and free from all types of litter. Thanks to Cecilia O'Sullivan for once again co-ordinating this competition.

This year’s competition took the form of a poster or a poem. 1st & 2nd from each age group, from each category in each area went forward for county adjudication.  Exhibition and presentations at Ennis Urban Council offices, Waterpark House, Drumbiggle, Ennis on Fri Dec 2nd @ 8pm. Clare County Council Recognition Print

As we celebrate 40 years of Community Games in the Banner County, Clare County Council recognised the efforts and services rendered to the people of the county by a number of voluntary organisations.  Clare Community Games, a number of Search and Rescue groups, Clare Civil Defence, and St Joseph's Hospital Arts Group were presented with certificates to mark the occasion.

Chris Droney, the legendary concertina player from Bellharbour, played a few tunes to round off the formalities before a wine / tea / coffee reception. More details are available in the Clare Champion.

Rory Chesser Print

rory-chesser2 Rory Chesser originates from Ennis St John's area in County Clare. He recently represented Ireland in the European Cross Country championships in August & September.  His career highlights to date include: Irish National Champion 3000m Steeple Chase  (2008, 2009); Irish University Champion 3000m Steeple Chase and 5000m (2008); Second in Irish World Junior XC Trial (2006).  He has represented Ireland in Cross Country and Track events on many occasions. Rory and all his family took part in Community Games events at Area, County and National level and three of his younger brothers represented Clare in Athlone in 2009. On Community Games, he quotes: Your athletic future too, can start here, mine did. The Community Games is a fantastic organisation, keep with it!  We wish him continued success in his athletic career.
