The Handwriting competition caters for Boys and Girls in the Under 10 age group.
Competitors must be under the age limit on 31st July in the year of competition.
A competitor will enter only one piece at each level of competition.
The time allotted will be one hour.
At Area and County level the title of each exhibit must be clearly marked on the front of the exhibit. The name, address, date of birth and signature of the competitor must be on the back. At National finals, only the age group and county number will appear on the back.
A supervised competition must be held at both area and county level.
At the National Finals Handwriting competition under the supervision of the adjudicators, a competitor will be required to in their own handwriting, to copy exactly the piece, which will be given before the start of the competition.
At the National Finals Handwriting competition competitors must use the paper given out. Only one side of the sheet of paper is to be used for the handwriting piece.
There will be adjudication at all stages of the competition. The panel of adjudicators will not be less than three. Adjudication will be based on: - correct letter formation; Neatness - uniform letter size; legibility; fluency: style and flair; completion of piece.
Competition at Community Games finals will be adjudicated on supervised work only.
All entries at the National Finals will be the property of the Community Games. Prize-winning entries at National Finals will be returned.
Visual aids will not be permitted and adjudicators will request the removal of any item they consider as helping the competitor.
