About Model Making Print

The Model Making Competition caters for individual boys and girls in the Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age group.

An exhibit must have a Community Games theme and the title of each exhibit must be clearly marked on the front of the exhibit. The name, address, area, date of birth and signature of the competitor must be displayed with the model. At National Finals, only the age group and county number will be displayed with the model.

The competitor who will represent his county at the National Finals will, under the supervision of the adjudicators, be required to create his own personal choice of model in accordance with the rules. Time allotted will be 3 hours.

Any materials may be used. The competitor will be required to bring along his unprepared materials. All materials and equipment will be scrutinised prior to the commencement of competition and if deemed to be prepared, the competitor will be instructed to withdraw all such materials. Refusal or failure to do so will automatically cause disqualification.

An unprepared base for the model will be permitted but shop purchased ready-made items such as miniature dolls, bicycles, nest etc., will not be permitted. Maximum size of an exhibit will be 60cm x 60cm x 60cm.

Adjudication will be based on: Observation of events; Creativity and originality; Natural ability.

Full Model Making rules are available from the Community Games website.

Competitors must be under the age limit on 31st July in the year of competition.

The top two competitors from each area go through to County competitions which usually take place in Ennis in February. Winners of the County competition go through to represent Clare in the National finals in May.
