Garda Vetting Print

New legislation is due in September 2012 to make it compulsory for ALL adult volunteers to be Garda vetted. Volunteers must be separately vetted for each organisation. Currently Headquarters are dealing with over 200 applications per week and the process usually takes about 3 weeks.

It will be a requirement for any adult involved in supervising, coaching, training and acting as officials etc for children in sport. This includes coordinators, managers, referees, linesmen, finish judges, assemblers, in fact anyone who has unsupervised access to children or vulnerable adults at Area, County Provincial and National level
This will become a very serious issue for Community Games and many other sporting organisations if the adults involved do not get Garda Clearance.

Please raise the issue urgently at your next Area meeting and request that all your committee and any other volunteers you regularly use, complete the Community Games Garda Vetting form.  See Garda Vetting FAQs. Forms can be submitted directly to: -

The Garda Vetting Unit,
Community Games Sports HQ,
Joyce Way Park West, Dublin 12.
