Paul Hamilton from Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won Gold in the U-10 Model Making and brother David won Silver in the U-12 event.

Shannon Chess teams won Silver (U16) and Bronze (U12) in Athlone, May 2011. U16: Yee Shing Man, Robbie Meaney, James Danaher, Ross O’Connor, Evan Quigley, David Hanley, Samuel Lenihan. U12: Adam Cole, Joseph Cesar, Jaimie Nelson Cole, Ronan Singpurwala, Hazel Meaney, Mark Quigley, Jessica M Danaher.

The U16 Team from Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry won Silver in the Project competition: Aoife Corbett, Niamh O’Dea, Katie Freeman, Aoife Hurley. U16 topic was about Renewable Energy.

Tulla Draughts teams won Silver in the U12 competition and fourth in U10 event in Athlone, May 2011. Sean Cahill, Jack Noonan, Rebecca McEvoy, Brian McSweeney, David Meehan, Ronan Molloy, William Halpin.

Community Games is an independent voluntary organisation which operates through the local community to provide an opportunity for young people to experience a wide range of sporting and cultural activities before concentrating and specialising in those most suitable and attractive to them.

HSE Community Games 2010 National Finals Weekend 1 Print

Success for Clare in Athlone (May 2010)

The Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games were represented by 177 children from all over the County in both sporting and cultural events at the National Finals weekend 1 in Athlone I.T. over the weekend (28-30th May).  We had some fantastic results in Handball, Model Making, Cross Country, Talent, Badminton, Culture Corner, Draughts, Chess, Art and Projects, bringing home a total of 40 Gold, 20 Silver, 11 Bronze and 10 fourth place medals a grand total of 81. Make sure to get a copy of this week's Clare Champion or Clare People newspapers which also contain full results and some fine photos.

Gold medals were won by Broadford/Kilbane/Kilmore Badminton, Boys U-15 Handballers from Tulla, Carrigaholt/Cross Set Dancing, U-13 Mixed Cross Country, David Hamilton Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry, Barry Clancy & Patrick Hogan both Kilnamona in Model Making and Miceal Clancy Doonbeg who was the first boy home in the U-13 Cross Country.  Silver went to Cratloe Culture group, Tulla Draughts U-12 and the Boys U-13  Handball from Quin/Clooney and to Kevin Mulcaire 2nd boy to finish in Cross Country so we had 1st & 2nd there.The Shannon Chess team U-16 and the Girls Handball team from Kilkishen won Bronze while 4th place medals were presented to Project teams from Cratloe & Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry to Noel O’Gorman Kilmihil in U-8 Art and Cliodhna Blake Doonbeg who was the 4th girl to finish in Cross Country U-13.  In the Cross Country the Clare team finished 20 pts ahead of Kerry & 100 pts ahead of Meath.
