Community Games FAQs

Community Games is an independent voluntary organisation which operates through the local community to provide an opportunity for young people to experience a wide range of sporting and cultural activities before concentrating and specialising in those most suitable and attractive to them.

County U10 GAA Football 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games U10 Football competition was held in Cooraclare GAA pitch on Monday 7th May with 7 teams taking part. The pitch was in excellent condition for football and thanks to field managers at Cooraclare GAA for having the pitch maked out and in great condition for the event.

All games were highly contested and very evenly matched with Kilmurry Ibrickane and Cree Cooraclare going to extra time. The standard of football was excellent.

Referees for the day were Joe Garry (Sports Analyst with Clare FM) Andrew Burke and Tony Henchy. Thanks to the referees for doing an excellent job and the event ran on time and without any delays. Many thanks to coordinator Veronica Finnucane.


County Cycling 2018 Print

The St. Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games cycling competition was held in Quin National School field on Sunday 20th May. Many thanks to Derek Browne who co-ordinated the event and Quin School for providing the venue.

County Camogie 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Camogie competition took place on Sat 28th April in Clooney GAA Club. Many thanks to coordinator Orla Considine, to all the volunteers and officials who assisted on the day, to the Clooney GAA club for use of their pitch and to all those areas/clubs who participated in a fair and sporting manner.

Munster Finals - April 2018 Print

The Community Games Munster Finals took place on Saturday 21st April in University of Limerick.  Clare had 26 teams participating in Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Draughts, Handball, Indoor Soccer, Mini Rugby and Table Tennis.

Clare had 7 teams qualify for the National Festival and 11 teams finished as runners-up.  Well done to all that took part.

County Tag Rugby 2018 Print

The St. Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Tag Rugby competition took place in O'Sullivan Park, Lees Road on Sunday 25th March. A fantastic day was had by all with plenty of talent, skill, sunshine, fun and great hospitality. Many thanks to Fergal and Sarah Cahill who co-ordinated the competition and to Mary Loughnane for some great photos. See Facebook for more photos.


County Futsal 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Futsal competitions took place over a number of weekends during March and April in Corofin GAA Hall with many teams from across the county participating. Many thanks to coordinators Flan Brennan and Mark Nestor and their dedicated team of assistants and referees. The standard was high with some of the matches so close that they went to extra time and penalty shoot outs. The winners now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster Finals in U.L. In July.

County Draughts 2018 Print

The St. Francis Credit Union Clare Community Draughts Competition took place on Monday 19th March in St Mochulla’s Primary School, Tulla. A total of 23 teams tool part across the four age groups. A total of seven community games areas were represented and the standard was very high this year with lots of tight matches.

Many thanks to co-ordinator, Paul Caulfield; referee, Sean McGrath; all the Tulla Community Games committee and scorekeepers Paul Kelleher, Brian McSweeney, Shrena McGrath, Eimear Culloo, Lucas Donlon, Rory O’Sullivan, Eoin Donnellan, Cushla Murphy and Tadhg Floyd. The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Gymnastics competition took place in Clare Gymnastics Club, Ennis, on Saturday 24th March.

County Quiz 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games U14 Quiz took place on Friday 23rd March in St Flannan's College, Ennis. The Co ordinator was Tony Bourke. The Quiz Master was the ever efficient Martin McInerney. Thirty teams from across the county participated for the opportunity to represent Clare in the National Finals in U.L. in May. The scoring was very high with only a few points seperaating the top eight teams throughout the competition with any of these being potential winners right up to the last round. At the end of the ten rounds the first place had gone to Loop Head (Carrigaholt/Cross/Kilkee) but the next three were tied. After six rounds the 4th place was decided. It took another two rounds to separate 2nd and 3rd.
