Community Games introduces young people to the activity of their choice, encourages the pursuit of healthy interests and enables them to discover their talents. Emphasis is firmly placed on participation and not on winning at all costs.

County Outdoor Soccer 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Outdoor Soccer competitions for boys and girls U12 and girls U15 were held between 11-15th June in O'Sullivan Park, Lees Road. While the number of teams participating was low the standard was extremely high with some matches being decided after extra time and penalties. It was coordinated by Flan Brennan, with assistance from Mark Nestor, ably assisted by a team of referees. The first in each category now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster finals in July.

National Festival May 2018 Print

The Community Games May National Festival took place in the University of Limerick on the weekend of 26th/27th May.  St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games participants had great success in the Aldi National Finals 207 children from Clare participated in a wide variety of Sporting & Cultural events. They came first in 15 events, second in 12, third in 13 & fourth in 6 - a total of 61 Gold, 32 Silver, 42 Bronze & 18 4th place medals and a grand total of 153 which were spread across 25 areas a brilliant achievement. All other participants competed with distinction. There was great excitement, outstanding performances, super talent, skill, personal bests and great fun. It was a fantastic weekend for Clare. Well done to all the participants, coaches and especially the parents. A big thank you also to our Clare sponsors the St. Francis Credit Union.  Full results are available on the Community Games website and full Clare results are available below, thanks to PRO Mary Phelan.

Clare Community Games Events 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games calendar for 2018 season is presented below, along with all results from the season. Please note that all dates and venues are subject to change. Closing dates are normally 2 weeks prior to initial competition date. Entries must be submitted to County prior to closing date using the On-Line Registration System (ORS).  Competition entry fees (€2 per participant) should be paid every 1-2 months with details recorded on the County Event Entry Form - this can be posted with cheque payable to "Clare Community Games" to Treasurer, or brought to the monthly county meeting. All areas participating must be affiliated and have their fees paid before taking part in any county competition. This is also a requirement for insurance purposes.

County Girls U14 Gaelic Football 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games U14 Girls Gaelic Football competitions were held on Sat May 19th in glorious sunshine in Gurteen. It was coordinated by Sean Lenihan with his team of referees. In the semi finals Doora/Barefield met Clarecastle/Ballyea and Lisdoonvarna/Doolin/Kilfenora/Kilshanny met Quin/Clooney. Doora/Barefield & Quin/Clooney progressed to the final while Lisdoonvarna/Doolin/Kilfenora/Kilshanny and Clarecastle/Ballyea met in the 3rd & 4th place playoff. After two very competitive matches Quin/Clooney emerged victorious taking the gold by beating Doora/Barefield by just 1pt on a score 0-09 to 1-05. They now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster finals in U.L. In July. In the play off both teams scored highly but Clarecastle/Ballyea edged ahead to take the bronze on a score of 7-10 to 6-03. The medals were presented by the fantastic referees Martin Nolan & Frank Culliton. Clare Community Games thanks sincerely the Doora/Barefield club for making their pitches and dressing rooms available for the day.

County U10 GAA Football 2018 Print

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games U10 Football competition was held in Cooraclare GAA pitch on Monday 7th May with 7 teams taking part. The pitch was in excellent condition for football and thanks to field managers at Cooraclare GAA for having the pitch maked out and in great condition for the event.

All games were highly contested and very evenly matched with Kilmurry Ibrickane and Cree Cooraclare going to extra time. The standard of football was excellent.

Referees for the day were Joe Garry (Sports Analyst with Clare FM) Andrew Burke and Tony Henchy. Thanks to the referees for doing an excellent job and the event ran on time and without any delays. Many thanks to coordinator Veronica Finnucane.

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Camogie competition took place on Sat 28th April in Clooney GAA Club. Many thanks to coordinator Orla Considine, to all the volunteers and officials who assisted on the day, to the Clooney GAA club for use of their pitch and to all those areas/clubs who participated in a fair and sporting manner.

Munster Finals - April 2018 Print

The Community Games Munster Finals took place on Saturday 21st April in University of Limerick.  Clare had 26 teams participating in Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Draughts, Handball, Indoor Soccer, Mini Rugby and Table Tennis.

Clare had 7 teams qualify for the National Festival and 11 teams finished as runners-up.  Well done to all that took part.

The St. Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Tag Rugby competition took place in O'Sullivan Park, Lees Road on Sunday 25th March. A fantastic day was had by all with plenty of talent, skill, sunshine, fun and great hospitality.
