County Athletics Information - Thurs 28th May & Sun 31st May 2026

Clare Community Games Athletics Event Information

• The Clare Community Games Athletics event takes place over two days this year: Thursday 28th May at Shannon AC from 6pm and Sunday 31st May in UL from 9:45am.

• Shannon AC Events (Thursday): All Hurdles (on 5 lane sprint track); Shot Putt, Discus and Javelin (on grass throwing area); High Jump (near 100m finish line) and Long Puck (in adjacent St Senan's Rugby pitch).  Parking in Shannon AC and St Senan's RFC parking areas with overflow in council car park.  Toilet facilities will be available in St Senan's RFC.

• UL Events (Sunday): All relays (note if more than 8 teams, relays will be timed to determine placings); Long Jump; Ball Throw (in centre field) and all Sprints and Middle Distance races (note that 200m races will be timed to determine placings).

• Competitor entry fee is €10 (covers both days if child is in an individual and a team event) with maximum of €15 per family.  This is payable from the parents to their area secretary. Each area will be charged by County to recoup these fees to cover costs.  There are NO GATE FEES at either event.

• There will be NO PARADE OR OPENING CEREMONY this year.

• Medal Presentations will take place on site immediately after each final.

• Photos: Please ensure that you have consent of parents of any children who are are in photos which you share online.  Children where consent has not been given to share any photos will be wearing a blue wrist band.

Schedule of Events Shannon (Thursday evening)

• 6pm: Hurdles Assembly - U10 Girls followed by U10 Boys, U14 Girls, U14 Boys

• 6pm:  Shot Putt Assembly - U14 Girls followed by U14 Boys, followed by Discus and then Javelin.

• 6pm: Long Puck Assembly - U12 Boys followed by U14 Girls. Assembly in Shannon AC and then proceed to competition on St Senan's RFC field.

• 6pm: U16 Girls High Jump Assembly.

Schedule of Events UL (Sunday morning) - SUBJECT TO CHANGE

• Sprints will commence immediately relays are finished. Both sides of the track will be in use for heats with finals taking place on side closest UL Arena building.

• Relay Assembly 9:45am with first event starting 10am sharp. Note that if more than 8 teams in a relay, times will be used to select top 4 teams.

  • U12 Ball Throw will start once all U12 Relays are over

Important Information for All

• Please note that there are limited catering facilities at this venue so families are advised to bring their own refreshments, including water.

• Each area must have a designated Manager who is the liaison person between area athletes/parents and the athletics officials on site.  All communication with officials must be done via this designated person.

• For Long Puck and Ball Throw events, the participants will take all their 3 shots immediately one after the other. This is to enable easier management of these events.

• Note that the events have a running order and do not follow a timed schedule so best to arrive early, enjoy the event and cheer on your team mates - and listen out for announcements during the event to ensure participants get to assembly areas in time for their races.

• Please bring all rubbish home with you as we won't have any waste disposal on site.
